Asian Environmental Foundation
Asia Environmental Foundation Limited (Asia Environmental) was founded as a charitable organisation in August 2006 aimed at promoting environmental protection and conservation. We assisted in its formation and its application for charitable status under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in 2006. At present, we provide annual secretarial services to Asia Environmental on a pro bono basis.
Asia Environmental provides donations to organise, plan, formulate, promote and implement programmes, activities or schemes for the purpose of environmental protection and conservation, and carries out disaster relief and recovery work.
Since 2008, Asia Environmental has entered into several agreements with Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDS (MBCA), an approved charitable organisation established in the Union of Myanmar (Myanmar). Under the agreements, Asia Environmental and MBCA have agreed to jointly cooperate and participate in an environmentally sustainable village programme giving relief, rebuilding and recovery in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar (Project).
MBCA is an approved charitable organisation established in Myanmar initially established to assist businesses into responding effectively to HIV by mitigating HIV impact. Cape Negrais Relief and Recovery Committee (CNRR) was established by MBCA and various business associates and individuals in May 2008 for the purpose of assisting in the relief and recovery of the victims of the destruction caused by Cyclone Nargis. CNRR operates under the leadership and in association with MBCA and is not an officially registered organisation or charity.
Asia Environmental donated money for use in the Project and the Project was undertaken by MBCA in association with CNRR which involved in the rebuilding and recovery work in the West Ayeyarwaddy Delta of Myanmar. The Project consisted of the rebuilding of Kwin Gyi Village and Htaw Pon Nar Middle School on the Island of Alekyun in the Ayeyarwaddy Delta of Myanmar.
