HKCMP Impact Event – Hong Kong Capital Markets – The Future of GEM

On 17 January 2025, the HKCMP hosted an insightful breakfast impact event.

Dr. Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council and the Securities and Futures Commission gave the opening speech.

Mr. Stacey Wong, President of HKCMP, and Ms. Anastasia Gordeeva of Charltons presented engaging insights on recent market statistics and alternative board studies.

Julia Charlton, Vice Chairman of HKCMP and Managing Partner, Charltons, moderated the panel discussions throughout the event. The event featured a distinguished panel of industry experts: Mr. Stephen Clark of Anglo Chinese Holdings Limited, Mr. Ronald Chan of Chartwell Capital Limited, Dr. Renu Bhatia, Chairman of the HKEX Listing Committee and Mr. Paul Malam, Head of Policy and Secretariat Services, Listing at HKEX.

The event provided a platform for valuable discussions about the importance of Hong Kong’s capital market, including for SMEs and growth companies, how GEM can be reformed and alternative listing platform structures, sharing of industry insights, and networking opportunities among capital markets professionals and regulators in Hong Kong.
